Borgata & Party Poker NJ Cancel GSSS Sunday Events

Borgata & Party Poker NJ Cancel GSSS Sunday Events Abruptly

What’s being deemed a technical error by Party Poker support has caused the two sites to cancel their tournaments right in the middle of them, during the height of their Garden State Super Series.

At about 7 PM Eastern time, tables froze and players were unable to continue playing the Borgata and Party Poker GSSS events, and for now have been refunded most of their tournament buy ins.

Among the tournaments cancelled were their $200 200k Guaranteed Main Event Mid, as well as their $1,000 50k Guaranteed Main Event High.

Details of the exact error are not known yet, but already the forums are lighting up with explanations. Most assume the likely reason being the software was unable to handle the volume of players and activity that they invited with this series. The GSSS attempted to run a low, medium, and high buyin option for each event, which seemed to be a great success with their players up until this interruption. No doubt a great idea, but perhaps they bit off more than they could chew. It seems that our beloved NJ poker sites are experiencing more growing pains.

A Technical Error?

When support was contacted, they relayed that in fact there was an unknown technical error and that affected players had been refunded. Support also confirmed that the series will go on starting tomorrow.

The overall sentiment of the affected players seems to be anger mixed with confusion. When asked his thoughts, NJ player Anwar Montgomery who plays as Black_ivy09 on Borgata stated “There really isn’t any explanation that can justify what just happened. I’m not sure if I am more dissapointed or confused. Definitely one of the more bizarre things I’ve seen in a while.

This is the second series run by these sites. The NJCOP was their first and went over rather well, but if some remember had a bit of controversy of it’s own. The GSSS series still has a week left, and it will be interesting to see what happens from here, especially next Sunday.

We will diligently work to make certain that we overcome these technical challenges in the future.

One can’t help but notice the huge overlays that these tournaments had, and feel for the players who thought they had signed up for some great opportunities today.
